  January 4, 2001:

Todays music: Internet Radio Stations, Pop

Not much work yesterday, but quite a bit today. I read through EG and made notes for about 3 hours.

Yesterday I joined a Novel dare. By the end of February, I expect not only to have EG finished editing, but also the cover letter and synopsis written AND mailed out to it's first publisher. It's a lot to do, but I expect to have it done. I've broken it down into four (the first step, the editing is broken down into 3 smaller ones) steps and I've got a 'master plan' when I should be done with each step. According to the plan, I should finish with a week to spare, so I've got some breathing room in case one or more steps takes longer than planned. I expect the second part of the first step will take the longest, that's actually doing the editing.

I can't believe there is still snow on the ground from New Years morning. The first snow we've seen here since we moved here 4 1/2 years ago. (The first year we were here, it did snow at night, but by morning it was gone.)

I spent New Years this year cuddled up on the couch sick. James had gotten a head cold just after Christmas and I caught it from him. He was running a fever two days after Christmas, but mine never got that bad.

Christmas this year was rather odd. We were planning to spend it with James' parents and ended up spending it with BOTH families SIMUTANEOUSLY. My sister decided she didn't want her and her daughters to be alone this year (Her hubby passed away in June), so they decided to drive down to Arkansas from Kansas. Since my mom was living with us, she decided to ride over to Arkansas with us. Because of the ice, my sister stayed a day later than she planned and we stayed one day later because of the ice and another day because we were sick.

This Christmas I got a cherry wood curio cabinet (nice!) from James and my mom. My mom and I found them on sale, half-price for Christmas and they went halfsies on it for me. I really like it, it has a light in the top of the cabinet and a mirror with flowers etched around it on the very top. I also got a bread maker from my in-laws (I'll let you know how it works tomorrow) and a new watch from James. I also got some $$ from my sis to buy fishes for my new aquarium.

While I was staying with my sis, I got attatched to her aquariums. She, at the time, had two ten gallon and two five gallon tanks. Now she has another ten gallon set up and a fifty gallon that she'd like to make into a salt-water tank I think. Anyway, so I bought a used tank that's like an 8 gallon, but the woman at the pet store talked me into buying a brand new ten gallon. The ten gallon is set up with two danios in it. They are gold colored and I named them Tod and Copper (The Fox and the Hound is my fave cartoon, what can I say?). The 8 gallon is set up without the water. I'll get it set up soon, but $ for buying fishes is pretty tight at the moment. (I also have a cul Betta vase with a blue betta in it, his name is Bubbles.)

James and I went down and signed up at the local fitness club. We got the 6 month contract that she's letting us both use simultaneously (3 months each). It cost $180. So, money at the moment is tight.

Working out today was pretty cul. It was fun with James around. Mostly I didn't like messing with the free weights, except for the calf raises thingy. With James around to carry the weights for me, it was nice. :) Today we just went on every machine and found our max, alternating arms and leg muscules. The two that I was most pleased about was the leg press and the bench press. The leg press I maxed out at 305 lbs. I thought that was pretty good. And when I say that I don't mean that I couldn't lift the 305, I mean that was the most I could lift and do it properly without killing myself. The bench press wasn't nearly as good as that, but as wimpy as my arm strength is, I thought 70 lbs. was pretty good. So far, my front chest and shoulders are sore, and my abs are a little sore, but not bad, yet. We were planning on going again tomorrow and then resting 'til Monday and if we do, we'll work the leg muscles. My leg muscles seem to get sore less often than my arms.

Oh! We watched Titan A.E. last night. I thought it was pretty neat. I think 'Bob' is a pretty cheesy name there at the end, but uh-well.

Well, I'm getting sleepy (which is unusual for me at almost 10:30) and I want to get an early start on that editing work tomorrow. TTFN!
