  February 14, 2001:

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Lots and lots of driving. Yesterday we discovered that the Ryder truck has a govenor on it so it won't go over 60. We left Manhatten, KS at 11:30 in the morning and got to James' parents in Arkansas at 2:30 A.M.

We had car trouble just before getting on the Cimmarron Turnpike heading to Tulsa. We had stopped for gas and looking for James (we'd separated and supposed to meet at the last exit). James wasn't there. After we paid, we decided to eat at the DQ there. When I went out to move the car from the pump, there was nothing. I turned the key and there was nothing. No sound, nothing. I was tired, worried about James and then that happened. I nearly cried. I called James' parents, first thing, to see if James had called them. When his dad answered the phone, my sis came in to say that James had gotten there (Come to find out, he'd missed the exit and had to go one south of the turnpike and back north). So, I told his dad the situation and told him to expect us late (by that time it was 2:30 and we hadn't eaten yet) and that if we decided to stop at a hotel, we'd give them a call. James decided to put the Prism on the tow dolly, which means we had to play musical chairs (car style) since the Neon is a stick and I couldn't drive a stick.

By 9 p.m. I was tired and trying everything to stay awake. I had a Pepsi or two, beef jerky, and candy. I was so glad when we got to his parents house. I went pretty much straight to sleep and slept for 8 solid hours. I could have easily slept longer, but we had to get up and go. We woke up later than planned, ate lunch late and got out an hour longer than expected. I wanted to get here in time for a shower before church, but I rolled in at 10 minutes till. Just enough time to change shirts and brush my hair.

As you can tell, the diets not been going well. I was planning to stick with it, but Sunday I splurged just a little with some desserts, Monday I had a little bit. Then Tuesday, I told myself I would stick to it better. We ended up driving straight through to Manhatten without eating anything all day. We got there at about 6:30. I was VERY hungry. All she had was pizza and pepsi and I was told in no uncertain terms that I would not starve, that I would be forced to eat. So, I ate. I don't know if it was the tomato sauce on the pizza, the pizza itself, the Pepsi, the cold air, or a combination of one or more of them, but something caused me to have a mild asthma attack. I think I'm gaining better control over it. That was the second mild one I've had all year. I'm positive my diet is connected to it, so as long as I'm eating better, I'll be okay.

I'm going to try and limit my intake better the next few days, but I'm not much concerned with it. I know that it will come off fast as long as I get back to the gym next week. It's a set back, but a minor one as long as I don't let it go on for too long.

The other drawback of this trip is that my neck is killing me again. The visit to the chiropracter last week had it mostly back to normal again, but now it is so sore that it hurts to turn my head. That's what stress does to me.

A majority of the stess was because of the fog. Through most of Kansas and Oklahoma, there was an awful fog. All you could see was a patch of land with about a 1/4 mile radius, the rest was all white. I can completely understand why the characters on Voyager went nuts while in the Necrid expanse or more commonly called, the void.

One good thing about this trip is that my sister gave me a ten-gallon tank, stand and all the trimmings. I also got 10 fish! I'm not sure if they'll live, I'm really concerned about two or three of them. I got: 2 striped danios, one fire tetra, one cory cat, one algae eater, three neons and 2 painted glass tetra (?). I'm not exactly sure if thats their actual names or not. One of the painted glass are not doing well, he mostly swims vertically, which is not a good sign. The cory cat also doesn't look well, neither does the fire tetra. The danios look great. I fed them a while ago and they darted around everywhere eating most of the food. They act just like my gold danios. I've got them all in their tanks. The ten-gallon now has ten fish in it (the two stripped danios may come out later when I get the other ten-gallon set up) and the 4 gallon has 5. One fish in the 4 gallon tank may die. Also I may move my origonal blue painted tetra. He's still not eating and I've seen the other tetra still chasing it around. He now sits in one corner all by himself. He looks so pitiful.

My sis had given me another tank, but it broke on the truck. We should have taken the rocks out of it, evidently when the truck hit a bump, the rocks flew up and landed down, busting out the bottom of the tank. I don't think I want to have 4 tanks going anyway, so I'm not that heartbroken. And anyway, I'm using the extra light on top of the 4 gallon tank. It looks much better with a light, even if it doesn't fit on top of it exactly.

::yawn:: It's 1 AM! I'd better get this posted, along with the 12ths entry. Plans are to be ready to leave sometime after 8 AM tomorrow and I still need that shower! TTFN!
