  April 21, 2001:

It has been a really long time since I posted and I thought it was about time.

Since I was technically in the 'Dare to be Healthy', I wanted to mention some things now that it is over. First of all, CONGRATS to Diana and Linda on their successes! I'm especially amazed with James' success! 51 pounds!? You go boy! :)

I have to say that I feel very much encouraged by my fellow darers. They did an excellent job. I on the other hand, did not do so well. After I discovered I was pregnant, I quit the weight lifting. I wish I hadn't. But, our membership ran out at the end of March and I wasn't doing a very good job talking my hubby into paying for another month (especially now with a baby on the way and no insurance), and I was concerned about doing too much and losing the baby. So, I pretty much quit going for the last two weeks in March and started walking several times a week instead. I've been keeping up with that fairly well, one or two weeks I've gone once. I also started working at the library on Thursdays and I vacuum for about an hour to an hour and a half, so I count that as exercise (especially since my body aches afterward!)

But, I did lose 15 lbs. since January. I feel bad counting all of that because about 7 of it was lost after I was pregnant before I upped my eating amounts.

When I found out I was pg, I pretty much considered myself dropped out of the dare. My concept of the dare was messed up! I thought that since I wasn't trying to lose weight, I couldn't be in it anymore. It wasn't until there was a week left that I realized that it is a 'Dare to be Healthy' not a 'Dare to lose Weight'. So I cleaned up my diet again for that last week and finished the dare. I don't feel too pleased about my accomplishment and would love to do another dare if there was one of that sort. I realize now that I COULD complete the dare being pregnant.

Ok, on to better topics. I've been neglecting my writing for a while. I have difficulty getting my mind to settle down to do much reading or writing. BUT I do have an idea in the works and would love to sit down and write it in the next week. It's a short story and I think it will be a good one with the right polishing afterwards.

I'd still like to get back to DR and send it to WotF this year. It will be a great story as well, but still needs a bit more polish.

In pregnancy news, I have my first appointment on Monday! I need to call my midwife today and make sure it's all set up since last time I talked to her it was all tenative. Hopefully Tuesday I'll have ultrasound pics for you! TTFN!
