Todays music: Star Wars Episode V soundtrack

I spent most of today cleaning our guest room and getting ready for my mom's visit. The room is now clean and straightened. The only thing left to do is make the bed.

I managed to get 1106 words today. I'm really pleased how this thing is going. I'm feeling freer to write about more stuff. There was one point yesterday where I thought, "I don't really want to write this next part. It's going to be boring and I can just skip ahead." I ended up talking myself into writing it. After all, that's what first drafts are for, to explore the setting and the characters, even if it might be boring. I continued on in the scene and came up with a really funny scene. I was really pleased about it. I'm also excited about the fact that for once I have more words in the chapters. I'm only on chapter five out of nearly 9 K. Usually I have about 1 K per chapter.

I really agree with Stephen King when he says you shouldn't take more than one day off writing. When I took Sat-Monday off, it was really difficult to think about my characters and what to write about next. It wasn't that hard though, once I sat back down to do it. I can see how much easier it is to do it nearly everyday, though.

I hope I keep this pace up while mom is here. Then, after that, moving her down here will take up my time as well. I hope I won't lose much time.

Good news! We paid $11 for a leather collar for Z. That means no more chain wrapped around his neck and causing sores. We found one at a pet store on Monday. I can't believe we didn't think about a leather one. Without a decent pet shop around, we shop at wal-mart and all they have is those cheapy rope-looking collars. They stretch or something and he gets out of them too easy. The halters made of the same material frayed in about two days or less (we were out of town right after I put it on him, so I really don't know how long it lasted, but he was off when we got back). I'm so glad we now have something better for him. It was a pain keeping up with that chain wrapped around his neck. We had to keep an eye on it every day to make sure it wasn't digging in. Sometimes when we were out of town, or especially busy, we missed the beginning signs and he got a pretty bad cut. It's nice to not have to worry about it now. Now we have to worry about getting his yearly shots. There's no decent vet in the area and we'd have to take him to meridian. He's scared to ride in cars, so I can't imagine riding in a car with him 45 minutes (that's only ONE way too). Maybe I can find a vet that sells the shots that I can give him myself. I'll have to check.

:::Yawn::: It's almost 12:30 AM, time to get to bed. TTFN!
