Todays music: Backstreet Boys

1019 words on Friday (before picking up mom at the airport), 657 yesterday and another 1108 today to make a total of 13,050 words. I'm also over 70 double-spaced pages. Not bad.

I got to play a crazed Amazonian woman today. Heheh. I chopped down some trees (About 2-3 inch diameter) in the lot where my mom's planning to move. I think I'll be sore tomorrow. My arm muscles felt tight half-way through. We rented a thing that's a cross between a push lawn-mower and bush hog. James had fun clearing with that. He got the driveway done and probably 1/4 of what will be the actual lot. Once the guy is finished with his survey? of the land, we'll know where the septic tank and wells got to be and then we can clear that area too. What fun!

Yesterday, on the spur of the moment, we went to a circus. I was very irritated at some parents. At first it was a couple sitting next to us who let there children stand on the railing in front of us. They encouraged them to stand there even. I was scared one of them would fall over the 1 1/2 foot railing into the arena 10 or so feet below. Then other parents allowed their children to go down front until I could hardly see around them at all. Then the parents next to us stood up, instead of telling their children to get back. I'm sure that irritated the people behind them. I was glad they didn't return after the intermission. I was also glad that most of the children didn't either.

Ever notice that contortionists are usually oreintal? I wonder why. James and I talked about this briefly. His comments of: "It's just not natural" spurred the conversation on. Are oreintal people just more flexible? Or is it because the rest of us are more concerned in other ways, like business and entertainment (like, say, watching circus'?). Maybe it's genetic, I thought, or trained from birth. Babies are naturally flexible, I said. James said they weren't that flexible!

I'll be soooo glad when my mom get's moved in. It's turning out to be a lot of work to get the lot ready. Hopefully I can keep up writing. I was so disappointed to see 5 days slip by with no writing. What can you do? "Here, mom, this is the remote, we have only one channel." Or, "No, sorry mom, you can't go to bed yet because I'm on the 'puter in your room." When you have company around, you feel guilty if you're not entertaining them all the time.

I've been sorting through some old e-mails and found this in one of my critiques. I'd forgotten about it and thought it was a good writing quote. I'll close with it today (Hope you don't mind, Trey!):

"Never ever strive for perfection. That way lies disappointment and ruin. What we should be striving for is excellence, which is a whole other bucket of fish." HeyTrey@aol.com
