  August 2, 2000:

It is so nice to be able to work on here while a storm is going on outside. I hope the battery lasts throughout the storm. It should, the other day in the car we played several games of LIFE (almost 2 hours worth) and LIFE uses sound files and video clips. This program I'm running (AceExpert 3) should use less stuff than that.

We went to the zoo yesterday. It was really nice. The kimodo dragon wasn't there though. They were working on his cage or something. :(

We also went to the Coke museum. I drank more carbonated beverages than I had in the past four years! Really, and I had the bellyache to prove it. They let you sample 46 different drinks (23 from U.S. and 23 from world). I liked the ones from around the world better. They had Watermelon, Apple, Tutti-Frutti, and Tangerine. I also liked the Peach Tea from U.S. and Strawberry Minute Maid.

We also went to Trade N Books in Montgomery. I think I've said before that it's the best bookstore ever! We traded in a plastic sack full of books and got a bagfull for $3! What we paid was tax, I believe. AND we left with about $17 in credit from the books we brought in to use next time! So Cul!

I found several books by Piers Anthony that I hadn't seen before. One was Killobyte. It is a great book. I'm almost done with it already and can't wait to finish it! I also found a Neil Gaiman book, Neverwhere. I wasn't that interested in it, but since I had just finished Stardust and loved it, I thought I'd like Neverwhere too, just because he wrote it. I also found Stephen King's In the Eyes of the Dragon. I've read it before, but it's been awhile and I remember it being a great book.

I discovered that Total Recall was written by Piers Anthony. I didn't know that. I felt like a total lame-o when I found that out. I couldn't believe I didn't know. Great movie! It took me about 4 times watching it before I figured out whether his experiences were real or just a figment of the VR world. If you don't catch one itty bitty line, you'll be so lost and confused.

Oh, I'm also reading a book about writing called If you can Talk, You Can Write by Joel Saltzman. I really like this book! James bought it for me. The author really hits home on exactly how I avoid writing and why. He's really motivating too!

I'm glad to see that all my files transferred to Word 2000 ok. I was a bit worried about an Erin Glen file. It opened up with a bunch of junk and only showed like one page of the book. I discovered though, that I had another file with the complete text, so I'm ok. I had so many files of that book, that I didn't know which one was the current one.

I finished editing chapter 1 of Erin Glen. One down, 21 to go.
