August 29, 2000: Whew! We did go through a bunch of stuff Saturday. The entire upstairs has been sorted through and ready for auction. One room we designated as the 'keep' room and the other two hold junk for sale. We also went through the largest room in the basement. Now all that's left are two rooms in the basement and the main floor. I got another new toy Saturday! This year has been the year for electronic toys. First my portable CD player that transmits to a radio station, then my printer and my laptop. Now I have a web cam! It's Web Cam Go, the kind you can take with you to be a digital camera. It's great! I got this particular camera because you can take it with you, plus it came with NetMeeting so James and I can try to video phone each other while we are apart each other. The 'puter at home has NetMeeting, but no camera. We are talking about getting the Intel cam for it, only $50. I can't believe how relatively 'cheap' the cams are. This one was only $120 and had a ton of software. You can see that I've been playing with PhotoFantasy. Yesterday I made myself a princess and a turist of Egypt. ;) Sunday it was really neat. After church we took family photos at the building. We used my digital cam and Mom's regular camera. After we finished, James said, "Get your laptop and let's see it." So, ten minutes after the pictures were taken, my laptop was retrieved from the car and set up. The pictures looked good. The only problem was that since the view hole was different from the actual picture taking hole, some people got chopped off in a couple of pictures. But you have that same problem with other cameras too. The other problem I'm having: Notice how my face in the pic at the left is pinkish? I couldn't get it to clear up. I messed with the Hue, Saturation, Brightness and didn't manage to help it at all. Uh-well. Beggers can't be choosy. Hopefully I can get some work done this week on my novels. With all the dust and smoke (my mom's a smoker) around here I've been waking up with a headache. I've also not been sleeping well, waking up every couple of hours or so. Maybe it's just adjusting to sleeping alone, I don't know. There are a lot of trains that run nearby and that could be bothering me too, but they didn't bother me while James was here. Anyway, I'd like to finish reading through/editing Silver Star this week and get back to writing it next week. Mom and I are planning on visiting some pioneer museums one day this week. She's a geneology buff and likes Victorian stuff, so I'm sure she'll enjoy it too. One of the places we are visiting is Saunder's County Historical Museum. When we used to live on a farm near Wahoo, NE, my mom started the Saunder's County Historical Society. She hasn't been back to see the museum since we moved 16 years ago. So that's one of our stops. Well, I'd better get to work today, it's already 10 AM and there's a lot to do. TTFN!
