  September 1, 2000:

I caught a thief! :) It's great all the things you can do with a digital camera. I was heading to bed the other night and found Lady (my mom's white AKC Scnhauzer) with her head stuck in her dog food bag. I grabbed my camera and took three shots of her with her head in the bag. This one is the best.

Lady is breaking my heart. My mom wants to have her put to sleep. I really really want her, but we can't have another dog. Lady has a lot of problems. She has a doggie immune defincency (not contagious), has bad teeth, and was obviously abused. She is very shy of people, but when she shows her personality she is soooo cute. My mom calls her 'Sassybutt' becuase when she wags her tail, her whole backside moves. It's so cute. She'll only show me that personality through the back door screen or if I'm standing in the dining room looking at her in the kitchen (my mom has a dutch door into the kitchen, if the bottom half is closed, she feels more bold). She needs more care than my mom can provide, so that's why she wants Lady put down. She tried to get in touch with Schnauzer rescue places and one in Illinois was going to take her, if Mom drove halfway and met them in Iowa. Well, Mom was planning to do that, but was unable too. Also, the rescue group found out about Lady's health problems and they gave up trying to get her.

It just breaks my heart. :( If anyone knows anything about someone or someplace that will take Lady, please, let me know. She's fully registered AKC and is at this moment getting spayed. The only thing I don't like about her is that her fur isn't shiny and pretty because of her immune problem. If you give her a bath, it still looks nasty. I think, with proper nutrition and care, she can come out of her shell and help her health problems as well. She also is very picky about her food. She will not eat people food, or canned dog food. She has to have Old Roy brand hard food.

I'm taking a Writing Romances internet class. For the purposes of the class, I'm working on 'Kisses From Heaven', a historical romance novel. I came up with the idea over a year ago, but I haven't worked on it. This is only the first week of the class, hopefully the class will go well.

Good news! I was missing a notebook that I wrote some 'Silver Star' in and James found it at home. He's going to send it (hopefully today) up to me. I was so worried I'd lost that notebook!

I'm still in NE at mom's. Monday Mom will drive me halfway to my sister's in KS. Hopefully down there I can get this laptop hooked up to the internet and try out NetMeeting with my camera.

Well, two days of work accomplished a lot around here. The basement has been gone through and sorted out. The auction is set for October and she should be ready. She'll just have to go through the main floor herself. She still hasn't decided where she'll move to yet, so it's a bit difficult to know what furniture she'll need. But, mom is very sentimental and there is a lot of stuff she's unwilling to give up. I'm sure she'll have more than enough to fill where ever she's going.
