My novel is in the genre of Christian romance, is so far untitled and is my first attempt at writing a novel.
I have borrowed the idea of a dare from fellow authors and it has worked well for them. These authors kept a journal of their progress on a web site and I thought it was a good idea. Please check back often to see my progress!

My writing time was interupted today and I never made it back to finish up. Only 572 words today.

I cleared 40k today! I had hoped I would. Wrote 3350 to make it there too. I think I'm back into the swing of things and I am soo glad to be writing again. If feels good to get all the history kinks worked out too.

I actually got 1258 words written today and more research. I'm discovering though, that the more I write and the more research I do, the more I have to re-write. I'll be glad when this book is over and I can do some fantasy, at least there I won't have to make it historically acurate. :)

I didn't get to write any today, wasted too much time trying to find info on the internet. It was extremely frustrating. I guess I'll go to the library tomorrow and do research the old fashioned way. ;)

I didn't get as much written as I hoped to, I had the day off and wrote 1105, but just couldn't get motivated to write more. Did some more research as well.

I tried to make up some for not writing two days already this week so I wrote 2355 words today. Planning to be out of town tomorrow night and all day Friday so probably won't get much, if any, writing done in the next two days. It's been a busy week for me!

I didn't get any writing done today. :sigh: I did, however, get nearly two hours worth of research that I've been needing to do, should have done already. I'm at a point now where I've already had to do some revising because what I'm writing isn't correct. Ploughing through and writing before researching can be a bad thing. Anyway, I've found a great web site full of Oregon Trial facts! Hopefully I can wade through it all tomorrow morning and get back writing tomarrow! :)

Well, I didn't get to write a single word today. When I was ready to write a storm came up and I had to unplug my computer. We've lost two modems already with this computer, I didn't want to take the chance on ruining another or my hard drive. Uh-well, I needed a break after making 30k in 19 days!

I've reached the half-way point! 1878 words today puts me over 30k!!! Yay! Maybe I could finish this in 40 days or less?! I'm hoping. :)

I was afraid I wouldn't make my 1000 word goal today, but I did. 1148 words added today, this is after a small case of writer's block (Or is it writer's avoidance? :) ).
I also got a bit of bad news yesterday, because of too many things going on right now, my sister has dropped out of our competition. :( I hope she does finish her novel sometime though, it's a great idea and I'd love to read more of it!

A collosal day! I broke my record by adding 3088 words today! I'm really enjoying this. I know it sounds corny, but it's so exciting to see the events unfold that neither the characters or the reader knows what's to come. It's almost like I'm god in this little world I'm writing about. This is so cul! :)

At my current pace, I could be finished in seven weeks. I'm going to double my word goal for days that I'm not working. I think I could finish in six weeks from start to finish. Today I wrote 2138 words, a record so far.

With another 1238 words added today, I cleared 15k! I am very pleased with the way things are going. I am, however, concerned with the length. For what I have planned, it may be a bit of a stretch to make 60,000 words, but I'm not going to worry about it until this rough manuscript is finished.

Another 1380 words barely added today. I say barely because, would you beleive, just after I finished typing I looked at both the computer's clock and my watch, both saying exactly 12:00 am. LOL! :)
I also worked on revising chapters one and two today and got them ready for IOWA (International Online Writers Association) to have a critique for me. I'm looking forward to that. :)
Also I finally finished chapter 4 with it finishing off to be nearly 4000 words! I had not originally planned for it to be so long, it just happened. :)
I hope I'll be able to find time to write tomarrow, my in-laws are coming for a visit. :)

Added 1317 words today. I'm begining to be just a bit frustrated about the way this chapter is going. Not exactly sure where to go from here. I'm sure something will come to me, I just hope it's soon.
I took a break from writing for an hour or so and something finally did come to me and I added much more since my last entry to this journal. I have added a grand total of 2102 words today! I'm still working on chapter 4, which means that it is now over 3000 words.

I think I can raise my goal of 500 words a day, to 1000 words a day. It's easier than I first thought, and I was afraid to set a goal that was too high. Tonight I added another 1078 words in only an hour. I might try to add a bit more before stopping for the night, but I seem to be at a standstill after this last scene. I just can't picture what is happening next at this point. I'll think about it a while, I know something will come to me.

I can't believe it! I broke several goals today. I had the day off of work, so I told myself I would write a thousand words today. I wrote 1284 words today! Hurray! That's not all though, today is Thursday and I said that by the end of the week I would have over 6000 words and chapter 3 finished. Well, chapter three is finished and I have 6144 words today! It feels so good to be writing everyday. I'm really enjoying it. I never thought the story would develop so well either. It's really coming together. :)
I found out that my sister is starting on an idea that she basically has nothing started yet as far as actual writing. Good luck to her, I'm starting off with a big lead. :(

I'm beginning the dare today. I have already 3590 words prior to this competition. I don't know at this point how many my sister has on hers. I have 2 1/2 chapters at this point. I hope to have 3 full chapters by the end of the week and I am hoping to break the 6000 word mark as well.
